Mostardesign Common Good Font License (EULA)

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THIS EULA BEFORE ACCEPTING ITS TERMS.
THIS LICENSE WILL ONLY BE GRANTED TO QUALIFYING ORGANIZATIONS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO SOCIAL, ENVIRONMENTAL, OR CULTURAL PROGRESS UPON ACCEPTANCE OF ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS SET FORTH HEREIN.

1. Purpose and Eligibility

By downloading, installing, and/or embedding the font software (“Font”), you (“Licensee”) agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions of this End User Licensing Agreement (“EULA”).

For the purposes of this EULA, Licensee shall mean any eligible organization, start-up, educational institution, publisher, or non-profit entity actively contributing to social, environmental, or cultural progress.

Eligible sectors include, but are not limited to:

• Climate action and environmental protection

• Biodiversity conservation

• Reforestation and sustainable agriculture

• Renewable energy and energy sobriety

• Waste reduction and circular economy

• Access to clean water

• Education, literacy, and open knowledge

• Inclusion, diversity, and social equality

• Support for autism, dyslexia, and neurodiversity

• Cultural and artistic development

• Access to education and community learning

• Public health and well-being initiatives

To qualify for this license, organizations must:
a) Have a primary mission or activity contributing to one or more of the areas listed above, or to the common good.
b) Be registered as a legal entity (non-profit, start-up, foundation, or company with a recognized social, educational, or environmental purpose).
c) Provide documentation of their status and mission upon request.
d) Each case will be reviewed individually to confirm eligibility for this license.

2. Scope of the License

2.1 Rights Granted

This worldwide, non-exclusive, and non-transferable license allows the Licensee to use the Font in support of their social, educational, cultural, or environmental mission, as follows:

• Installation on devices: The Font may be installed on up to 50 devices within the organization, including desktop computers, laptops, and other electronic devices.

• Use in communications: The Font may be used in communications, campaigns, and materials related to the organization’s mission.

• Embedding in digital materials: The Font may be embedded in digital materials such as websites, mobile apps, and other digital content related to the organization’s work, subject to the following conditions:

  • The maximum number of monthly page views on the website must not exceed 1 million page views per month. If this limit is exceeded, the organization must contact the type foundry to obtain an appropriate license.

• Mobile applications: The Font may be used in one mobile application distributed on the Play Store or App Store. Any additional app use requires an extended license.

• Use in presentations and reports: The Font may be used in presentations, reports, and educational materials related to the organization’s mission.

• Fundraising and awareness materials: The Font may be used in fundraising campaigns, advocacy, or promotional materials related to the cause (brochures, posters, social media, etc.).

• Online design platforms: The Font may be used on platforms such as Canva or Genially, but limited to one registered user.

• Commercial use limitation: This license does not cover commercial projects unrelated to the organization’s mission (e.g., paid products or services). A separate commercial license must be obtained for such use.

2.3 Provision to Volunteers and Contractors

The Licensee may temporarily provide the Font to volunteers or contractors working directly on projects for the organization.
These individuals must:
a) Agree in writing to use the Font exclusively for the organization’s mission-related work.
b) Delete all copies of the Font upon completion of their work.

3. Term and Termination

This license remains valid as long as the organization maintains its qualifying status and continues its mission.
The license may be terminated if:

• The organization ceases to operate within its declared purpose.

• The organization violates any terms of this EULA.

The Licensor reserves the right to revoke the license at any time without prior notice if the organization fails to comply with these terms.
Organizations losing eligibility may purchase a standard commercial license directly from the foundry.

4. Financial Conditions

This license is provided free of charge to eligible organizations.
However, the Licensor reserves the right to:

• Request proof of status or mission at any time.

• Refuse or revoke the license if eligibility criteria are not met.

• Note that this license is not retroactive, and previous purchases through distributors are not eligible for refunds.

5. Additional Terms

All other terms regarding copyright, warranties, limitations of liability, and governing law remain as specified in the original Mostardesign EULA, adapted to the context of this Common Good License.

6. Application Process

To apply for this license, organizations must submit:

• Proof of legal registration

• A mission statement or description of activities

• A brief explanation of the intended font use

• Contact information for the organization’s representative

7. Commitment to the Common Good

By accepting this license, the organization agrees to:

• Use the Font primarily for purposes aligned with their social, environmental, or cultural mission.

• Acknowledge the Font’s use in their materials when practical.

• Optionally share stories or outcomes related to their impact.

This EULA is designed to support organizations committed to positive social and environmental change while ensuring proper and respectful use of the Font.
